Position Reports to: Head Brewer
Objective: Successfully brew & package beer on semi-automated 3 vessel Sprinkman 15BBL system. Responsible for all aspects of brewery cleaning & maintenance. Position requires wort production, cellar work, filtration, keg & crowler filling, raw material/product inventory management, process & production record keeping, executing product deliveries as needed. Play a key role in developing & maintaining a conscientious company culture.
Safely & efficiently produce wort, including raw material handling, milling, mash/lauter, wort boiling, wort cooling, & brewhouse CIP.
Ensure consistent brewing techniques & quality control are used throughout hot-side & down-stream processes.
CIP of fermentation, bright tanks, & other equipment.
Utilize EMD Millipore Bevliner filtration system.
Operate IDD Squire II keg washer/racker.
Proper daily execution and recording of wort, fermenting & finished beer samples for vital indicators (including but not limited to: gravity, pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen & sensory analyses).
Utilize Ekos Brewmaster inventory management/record keeping software.
Consistently follow all personal, mechanical & chemical safety protocols.
Maintain a clean & well organized work space.
Strict adherence to recipes & SOPs.
Operate forklift safely.
Work closely with Head Brewer & peers to ensure tasks are executed effectively.
Interact professionally with managers, co-workers, vendors & guests.
Represent the company on-site & at off-site events in a professional manner that reflects well upon the Hoops Brewing brand.
Physically be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs, stand all day, safely lift 55+ pounds repeatedly, maneuver 170 pounds safely with the aid of tools, work in an environment without temperature control & repeatedly handle hot & cold liquids.
Respect brewery chemicals, handle them safely & utilize as directed.
Able to stand for long periods (up to 8-10 hours/day).
Environmental exposure to high & low temperatures, steam & high pressure gasses.
Forklift certification (will train).
Willingness to occasionally work weekends & holiday shifts.
Strong written & verbal communication skills.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; additional brewing, engineering, or other related education preferred.
Brewery production/packaging work experience preferred.
Demonstrable proficiency in math & microbiology.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Commensurate with experience.
