Karst Brewing

Karst Brewing values quality, small batch craft beer, creative repurposing, and celebrating local talent and our local natural environment. Karst Brewing, situated on the western terminus of the Root River State Bike Trail, takes its name from the surrounding karst topography which is responsible for the caves, sinkholes, trout streams and abundant natural beauty of Southeast Minnesota. Karst Brewing introduced craft beer to Fillmore County and the village of Fountain in 2017 by opening a 3bbl brewery in a renovated cafe, that itself had been a renovated one-room school house.

In 2019, Karst Brewing opened their current taproom in an adjacent midcentury-modern “shadow block” building by renovating a former lumberyard office, and also opened their patio constructed from granite pavers reclaimed from the Nicolette Mall in downtown Minneapolis. Repurposing a third building in 2022, a former school bus garage, promises cellar/storage space and more seating.
