The Guild will begin promoting MN Beer Day and the MN Beer Day Map (which lists your promotional activities) in October, and will run ads on radio, Facebook, and Instagram. We also promote to press, influencers, and our extensive list of festival/customer contacts. However, the majority of your customers will likely be from your local community, so be sure to do your own local promotion too!

Celebrating your brewery or town’s brewing history is great content leading up to MN Beer Day. Be sure to let your fans know about promotions, pints, and the brew if you’re participating. If you tag us or use #MNBeerDay, we will share it with our fans too.

Didn’t order pints? No problem! You can still celebrate MN Beer Day, submit promotions to our map, and use the images we provide – a few are available that don’t mention the pints!

Why did the Guild start doing MN Pint Day/MN Beer Day?
The Guild is always looking for new ways to help promote Minnesota craft beer, build the craft beer community, and help members generate revenue and press. We were looking for an event that allows every member to participate in their own community and customers – no travel needed! Pint Days like this have been successful in numerous other states, and our inaugural MN Pint Day (December 2021) was highly successful for participating breweries and brewpubs. The program has grown every year since.

Starting in 2024, we combined our “MN Pint Day” project with the newly declared state holiday – MN Beer Day. In 2023/2024, we successfully lobbied to get November 1 declared as an annual state holiday in MN, celebrating the history and culture of MN’s beer industry. Now, MN Beer Day, and our pint project, occur on November 1 each year.

How many glasses should I order?
This is entirely up to you! Do what works for your budget, customer engagement, and promotion plan. In 2024, the average was 4 cases, with orders as high as 10 cases. Several members commented on how quickly their pints went, 100% of last year’s survey participants said they sold all their glassware in the first weekend, and 85% of last year’s survey participants said they’d order the same or more pints this year.

The minimum order is 72 pints. What if I don’t need that many but still want to participate?
Orders can be split with other breweries/brewpubs, but you’ll need to select one shipping location and split your order on your own. Our average order the past two years was four cases (96 pints).

What kinds of promotions can we do?
You can do any promotion you like – once the glasses are purchased, the rest is up to you, and all proceeds will stay with your business! If you need some help, here are some popular promotions from previous MN Pint Days:

Can we participate in MN Beer Day even if we didn’t order pints?
Yes! MN Beer Day is meant to celebrate the entire industry. We understand pint-days aren’t a perfect fit for every brewery and community; do what works for your customers! If you’re a member of the Guild, you’re welcome to submit promotions to our map, brew the Statewide Brew, and use the event to encourage customers to get out to your taproom in whatever way makes sense.

What Shouldn’t We Do?
Skip participating in some way! Even breweries who simply offer a basic discount in their taproom or happen to have live music already planned that day (and submit it to the form so we can promote it) have sent us positive feedback about the impact of MN Beer Day on their numbers that year.

Each year, the main negative feedback we get is from breweries who did not participate in any of the MN Beer Day events – no pints, no brew, no special deals, no social posts, and did not send us any info about how they were celebrating. While we do our best to encourage all Minnesotan’s to get out and celebrate MN Beer Day at whatever taproom is local to them, this project will work best if your brewery participates in it, and will keep growing the more that our industry leans into it!

Does this help the Guild?
Yes! Grandstand donates $1 from every pint purchased to the Guild, and that money will go towards advocacy, scholarships, and other Guild services to members. The Guild also buys the manufacturing overage, and sells those pints at future events.

What Is It?

MN Beer Day is a revenue and promotion opportunity for breweries and brewpubs all around the state, and a fundraiser for the Guild.  MN Beer Day invites craft beer fans to visit their favorite local taprooms all across Minnesota on the same day. Participants can get an exclusive pint glass and take advantage of custom specials at your business. MN Beer Day encourages Minnesotans to #DrinkLocal and #ShopLocal as we move into the slower winter months.

Why Participate?

MN Beer Day lets your business participate in the way that makes sense for you. Just running your usual specials or events? Put them on the MN Beer Day calendar for an extra boost. Want to throw a massive party, offer up discounted merch, order and sell special pints, and do a fundraiser? Go for it! Do as little, or as much, as your business and community want – we’ll help promote you! 

MN Beer Day (and related state-wide pint and brew projects) have consistently been our highest-rated events and services among our brewery and brewpub members. Repeat business participation is between 95-100% year over year.

2025 Timeline

• July 25: Glassware Orders Open.
• September 15: Glassware orders close.
• October 13: Share your promotion details by this date to be included in the bulk of our marketing.
• October 17: Glassware shipment.
• November 1: MN Beer Day

How Does It Work?

1. Pint Created by the Guild & Partners.
2. Breweries Order Pints and Brew their Statewide Brew. 
3. Plan your Unique MN Beer Day! Decide what other promotions, events, or glassware deals you’ll use to draw customers to your taproom. Go as small or as big as you like! See other tabs for ideas on deals.
4. Share your Promotions with us for Extra Marketing on the MN Beer Day Map! 
5. Promote YOUR MN Beer Day. The Guild will provide graphics and materials, along with press support, to help promote Minnesota Beer Day to customers around the state. 
6. Profit! Sell glasses and beer starting November 1. All proceeds raised by you from your MN Beer Day sales stay with your brewery. Grandstand will donate one dollar of each pint ordered to the Guild.
